Thiruvadi Sevai.

Being born in this world, each one of us will have some aspirations at different segments of our life. When we were too small, we would like to have many chocolates; toys; sketch-pens; drawing books etc; when we were of school going age, aspirations w'ld be to top in academics. During teens, majority of us mite be caught in the 'web' of love; (here, i am not mentioning about the minority that escaped). If we succeed in it, it's fine, if not, we aspire for a good better half & settle down. Once we have a family, financial aspects come to the fore & we aspire for more prosperity; then come nice placements of the children; then settling them down with a good life partner, followed by grand children & the list goes on........

Assume, one gets all the above said in life, is that enough? what is final & binding????

Preceptors & saints insist on freedom from birth & death cycles. To achieve this, one should always bear in mind, 'The Lotus Feet' of The Lord!!!.

Often I have heard elderly people, insisting on the importance of The Lord's feet. I used to wonder, what is so great in The Lord's feet? Why not enjoy His whole form? Why is so much importance given to His Lotus feet? which we refer in tamil as 'Thiruvadi sevai'. I was working with this thought in my mind & realised that i can infer a few points on this account. We have often heard in religious discourses; that, between The Lord & The Goddess, The 'Divine mother' is more merciful & easy to please. We have also studied in scriptures that, 'The Lord's feet' is referred to as 'Lotus feet of The Lord. Now we also know that Goddess Lakshmi is seen on The Lotus only. We have seen pictues of Goddess Lakshmi dwelling on the rose petals of the Lotus. Now if we put two & two together, it becums crystal clear that Goddess Lakshmi resides at The Lord's feet only. Here a small confusion arises. In Vaishnavite temples, Goddess Lakshmi is seen at The Lord's chest only, how come she can be seen near The Lord's feet? We can elucidite the reason like this. Though The Lord is bearing Goddess Lakshmi on his chest; She being 'The divine Mother' likes to serve The Lord mostly by pressing his feet, The Lord being so dearer to His Consort, takes Her permission first to grant any boon to a devotee, hence the importance is given to The Lords feet!!!. If you want a proof, u can visit 'SriParthasarathi swami temple in Triplicane, Chennai & convince yourself; it is also one of the oldest temples in India. There is a seperate sannadhi for Lord Ranganathar, and Goddess Lakshmi (also referred to as Sridevi) is seen at Lord Ranganatha's feet only serving Him!

Praise The Lord :).
